Learning Disabilities Association of America
Founded in 1964 out of a shared determination between parents and professionals, the Learning Disabilities Association of America (formerly the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities) was created to address the urgent lack of services and support for children with learning disabilities. Sparked by a groundbreaking 1963 conference in Chicago, this grassroots effort brought together a committed group of families and advocates who recognized the need for national action. Today, the organization remains dedicated to advancing opportunities, resources, and understanding for individuals with learning disabilities through advocacy, education, and community support.
