Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council (Council) has been a driving force for positive change since 1971, dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities across all ages. As an independent state agency led by people with developmental disabilities and their family members, the Council focuses on issues affecting children, families, and adults. Guided by the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (DD Act), the Council develops a comprehensive State Plan every five years outlining its key goals and strategies. Maryland’s Council is part of a nationwide network of DD Councils working to promote inclusion, opportunity, and self-determination for people with developmental disabilities.
